Maga & Shavarsh — Wedding at Saghmosavank Monastery, Armenia

Maga and Shavarsh were married at Saghmosavank, a 13th-century monastery on the edge of the Kasakh River gorge, and celebrated with their guests in the Saghmosavank garden.

The morning began at Villa Ayghedzor, among antique wardrobes, carved mirrors and soft window light. Maga got ready in a feather-trimmed robe before stepping into a strapless lace gown with rose details, while her bridesmaids, all in shades of blue, helped with the final touches.

The ceremony followed Armenian church tradition: candlelight, the cross held above the couple, and the quiet of the old stone church. They walked out under a shower of petals, and white doves were released outside the church doors.

I photographed the day on both digital and film. The film frames hold the warmth of the morning light and the colours of the garden.
