Sabi & Smbat — Winery Wedding at Alluria, Armenia

Sabi and Smbat were married in the gardens of Alluria, a family-run natural winery in Vagharshapat, in Armenia’s Ararat Valley, with the ceremony, dinner and party all in one place under the trees.

The ceremony took place in the orchard, in front of a deep burgundy circle surrounded by red and orange flowers.

Dinner was set at long tables with white linen, red napkins and wooden chairs, with more of those rich autumn-coloured flowers spilling onto the grass. As the light faded, the string lights came on over the dance floor in front of the winery house. Sabi and Smbat had their first dance, and everyone danced late into the night.

I photographed the day on both digital and film. The film frames capture the colours of the flowers and the warm evening light especially well.
