G & S — Wedding at Geghard Monastery, Armenia

G and S were married at Geghard, the medieval monastery carved partly into the cliffs above the Azat River gorge, and celebrated with their family and friends at Ohana.

The morning was all white walls, glass and sunlight. The bride got ready in an off-shoulder lace gown strung with pearls, while the groom waited in a black suit with her bouquet of peach and orange dahlias.

Back at Ohana, the youngest guests wandered around with white paper parasols, and everyone else danced in the sun with their arms in the air.

I photographed the day on both digital and film. The film frames hold the warmth of the old stone at Geghard and the colours of the bouquet.
